While shopping at my favorite store that “puts people to work”, I found a white Battenburg lace duvet cover.  Having experienced life on someone else’s bed before living at my house, it had a few freckles that mostly washed out with tender care and OxiClean.

There is no duvet at my house but there are beds and one of those beds needed a white cover on it.  In order for the cover to work as a bedspread I quilted the top and bottom together on the long arm sewing machine.

First I ironed it . . . a lot.  Cotton lace can really shrink.  Laying on a flat surface, I safety pinned it to death so the layers wouldn’t slip.  I then pinned it to the long arm and started stitching.  No batting for the Battenburg.  It now looks and feels like a beautiful bed covering.
