Several Stashers shared their latest projects at our last meeting. Beautiful and inspiring.
We also enjoyed going through Lucia’s scrap box of fabric (more like a treasure trove of precious jewels).
Colleen also shared the East Cobb Quilter’s Guild’s beautiful touring “Raffle Quilt”. Colleen has the interesting job of showing and caring for the quilt before it reaches it’s final destination in June after the Guild’s show “Georgia Celebrates Quilts®“.
Click here to see a picture of the quilt. The biennial quilt show will be Thursday through Saturday, June 11-13, 2015, 10 AM – 6 PM. The Guild’s show is the largest judged and juried quilt show in the State. It is a treat to attend.
One of the cool things about a Stashing Sister’s meeting is the refreshment served. When you have a gaggle of interesting quilters who also cook, it is special. But there is something that needs to be researched;
‘Can you get fat(ter) by eating healthy?’ This Stasher thinks when the food is delicious, the answer is ‘NO’.
So far, we have one delicious recipe, thanks to the Green Smoothie Girl and Anne Marie:
Hot Pink Breakfast Smoothie
1½ C coconut liquid/water/juice (from a young coconut or a can, found in
almost any food store; not coconut milk)
2 Tbsp. chunk organic raw beet, peeled
1 large organic carrot, scrubbed
¼ C sprouted raw sunflower seeds, soaked overnight and drained*
2 Tbsp. chopped dates OR 2 large pitted dates
12 oz. frozen organic strawberries
1 Tbsp. sprouted flax seeds, flaxseed oil, or hempseed oil
* Use sunflower seeds for 2 days. Then on days 3–4, use sesame seeds. And on days 5–7, use cashews.
Purée all but the strawberries and flax seeds or hemp/flaxseed oil in a high-speed blender for 90 seconds. Add the strawberries and flax seed or hemp/flaxseed oil and blend until smooth, about 90 seconds. Serve immediately.
